Since introducing hən̓q̓əmin̓əm classes to UBC, the Musqueam Language Program (MLP) continues to offer language courses through the FNEL program.
Through the MLP, UBC students and Musqueam community members take courses to learn how to speak, read, and write hən̓q̓əmin̓əm, the language of the Musqueam people. The MLP was created following the initial partnership between the Musqueam Indian Band (MIB) and UBC in 1997.
By bringing Musqueam language instruction to UBC, the MLP established the roots for the creation of the First Nations and Endangered Languages (FNEL) program.
Courses
hən̓q̓əmin̓əm courses are open to UBC students (within and outside of CIS) and Musqueam community members.
